After setting up your Federation server, the next step is to link your target UTMStack instances to your centralized dashboard. This guide walks you through generating a secure API key, connecting your instance, and configuring optional administrative settings.

Prerequisites: Generate an API Key

Before connecting an instance to the Federation panel, you need to generate an API key on the target UTMStack instance.

When creating this key on the target instance, it is highly recommended to restrict access to the IP address of your Federation server (e.g., 10.11.11.107). This ensures that only your Federation server can fetch data from the instance.

  1. Navigate to the API key generation section on your target UTMStack instance.

  2. Enter the IP address of your Federation server in the allowed IP fields.

  3. Click the Create API Key button.

Copy the generated key immediately and save it securely. For security reasons, this cryptographic key is only displayed on the screen once and cannot be retrieved later.

Connecting the Instance

With your API key ready, you can now link the target instance to your centralized Federation panel.

  1. 1

    Access the Federation Panel

Open your web browser and navigate to the web interface of your newly installed Federation server (e.g., https://10.11.11.107). Log in using your administrator credentials.

  2. 2

    Initiate the Connection

On the initial welcome screen or main dashboard, click the central Connect Instance button. A connection form will appear.

  3. 3

    Configure Instance Details

Fill out the required fields in the popup form using the details from your target instance (see the Configuration Fields table below for guidance).

  4. 4

    Save and Verify

Once you have verified the information, click the Save button.

If the connection is successful, the system will immediately load the main dashboard. You will see consolidated data, metrics, alerts, and log entries flowing in from the newly linked instance.
